Achieve3000
by Scott MacManus - Thursday, 12 May 2011, 12:33 PM

By now everyone should have a good sense about Achieve3000, which is up for renewal, so I'm gathering input from everyone on whether or not you would like to renew it.

Please advise one way or the other, with comments. If you respond to the forum (not to me) everyone will be able to see you comments. Need to know by Monday, because there is a price break.

by Scott MacManus - Friday, 6 May 2011, 01:39 PM

Hello,

I am putting together a curriculum team to work from June 13th through the 24th. We will be reviewing and selecting textbooks, and updating our math curriculum, as well as doing some touch up work on Reading and Writing.

How many days we will be working is still being figured out, so if you are interested in working on this summer's committee please let me know. We will be making our committee selections very soon.

Classroom Presentations on Emergency Preparation
by Scott MacManus - Friday, 6 May 2011, 01:35 PM

Hello,

Susan O'Toole work for public heath as an Emergency Preparation technician, and is requesting to know if any teachers would like her to give a presentation to their class. She can do them on earthquake, flood, fire....etc... As you can see below, these can be tailored to your needs, related to age and content. She will be in Tok on the 16th and 17th and is available then for presentations. See a brief little bit of info below. Let me know if/when you would like to have her come to your classroom...I'll get her in touch with you, so you can line out what you think would work best.

Scott

I have a few ready to go (I just cannot call them “canned”) presentations. One of my favorites is on Safety Kept in Place or SKIP. That can be tailored to any age group even if it is just to raise awareness. I can do short class presentations on wildfires and/or earthquakes—probably our biggest threats during warm months for any age group.

I will be in Tok Monday, May 16 through Wednesday, May 16. I can visit any of the schools in the Tok area, including Northway, Tanacross, and so on; Dot Lake would be easiest to visit on Wednesday afternoon as I drive back to Delta.

I look forward to working with you and the AGSD.

Susan
